==== Incident Control at Structure Fires ====
Following a number of structure fires across the Shire in recent weeks, the Chief as reaffirmed the expectations around Incident Management of structure fires in non-gazetted fire districts. The senior Bush Fire Service officer present at the incident should assume the role of Incident Controller, with the senior Fire and Rescue Service officer appointed as Operations Officer. This arrangement provides Authority to Act outside of gazetted fire districts, as well as access to the powers specified in S39 of the Bush Fires Act.

==== Expressions of Interest - Permit Issuing Officers ====

The Brigade is required nominate members to be appointed as Permit Issuing Fire Control Officers. These officers have the responsibility of issuing permits to burn during the Restricted Burning Period within the Shire of Mundaring. Expressions of Interest are sought for suitably experienced and qualified members to nominate for this important position.

==== SoM Bushfire Operating Procedures Draft ====
The Shire of Mundaring has released the latest draft ([[http://wiki.sawyersvalley.bfb.asn.au/_media/newsletters:bop_draft_20230620.pdf|version 20230620]]) of the Bushfire Operating Procedures for review and comment. The procedures aim to provide guidance and instruction for Shire bushfire brigades, and bushfire activities.

The BOPs cover large parts of brigade activities and operations, and can provide a significant influence in how a brigade operates. It is therefore recommended that all members familiarise themselves with this document and provide any relevant feedback.

Feedback will be collected over the coming weeks, with a collated submission presented to the Shire of Mundaring.
