On Friday of last week, the State Government announced the formation of the Rural Fire Division, under the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. This division has the responsibility of fire management in rural areas, and provides a point of focus for bush fire fighting activities within the state. Whilst this is a major change for the department, do not expect substantial changes to the way we go about our core business in the near future. The Division is a new entity, which will take some time to develop it's processes and put in place the policy of the state government. The leadership team of the brigade will endeavour to inform our members of any developments and changes as they occur.

Dave R. has organised a wood raffle for the 28th at the Mundaring Shopping Centre. Volunteers will be needed to sell tickets throughout the day. A roster will be drawn up to that people only need to dedicate an hour or so. Anecdotally fund-raising around the Mundaring Shopping Centre can be very successful, so this should be worth investing a bit of effort into.
The Annual Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Street Appeal is on Friday the 18th of May. This has been a fantastic fund-raising activity for the brigade, and a great way of meeting volunteers from other brigades across the Bush Fire Service. Please indicate your interest in attending by emailing Michelle, or fill out the sign-up sheet in the station. The appeal will run from 07:00 until 18:00, and is centred around the Hay Street and Murray Street Malls.
