Burn-over Training at Chidlow

PPC Name Badges

Keith will soon be placing an order for PPC name and rank badges. Being readily identified on the fire ground is important for Command and Control, and over-all safety. If your PPC does not currently have a name or rank badge, please email Keith to be included in the order.

Shire of Mundaring Code of Conduct and Brigade Operating Procedures

The Shire of Mundaring have released drafts of the Code of Conduct and Brigade Operating Procedure documents. It is proposed that these documents will be present to BFAC on the 24th of October. Feedback on the documents is requested by the 12th of October.

Ahead of this deadline, it is requested that any comments be forwarded to Adrian or Vicki before the general Brigade meeting at the end of the month (Tuesday 25th Sept).

It is intended that these documents will form the basis for how our Brigade, as well as others within the Shire, conduct our day-to-day business. We have one opportunity to ensure that these documents are up to scratch before they are presented to Brigades for adoption.

Thursday Work Group

Every Thursday morning, a group of Brigade members have been meeting at the station to carry out construction and maintenance on the building. Recently they have been working on improving the lighting and security of the station, as well as organising and expanding the mezzanine storage area. Many thanks to these dedicated individuals for their efforts.

Anyone interested in lending a hand can meet with the group Thursday mornings, around 10:00am.

Station Open Day - 22nd September

At the most recent Brigade meeting it was decided that the Brigade will hold a Station Open Day, on the 22nd of September. This will be an opportunity for local residence to inspect the station, meet our Brigade members, and hopefully take away some valuable information regarding bushfire safety and volunteering.

A large number of activities are being organised for kids; including games, treasure hunts, branch target practise, and photographs. A number of presentations are also planned, covering bushfire safety, home preparation, winter burning, and volunteering.

This open day will be a fantastic opportunity for the Brigade to engage with the local community, and hopefully drive some recruitment. A large amount of assistance will be required to prepare for the day, so if you are interested please contact Adrian.

Current outstanding roles include:

A huge thank you do Vicki for extensively letter-dropping across Sawyers Valley this week. This is a huge effort, which will hopefully drive some good attendance on the day.
