Restricted Burning Period

The 1st of October marks the start of the Restricted Burning Period in the Shire of Mundaring. Residents will require a permit to burn, or are limited to burning 1sqm piles after 18:00. Permits for small burns (piles, bon-fires) will be available from the Shire via the online request process - all other permits are to be issued by Brigade Permit Issuing Officers.

At this time no enhanced restrictions have been placed on the issuing of permits and normal permit conditions will apply.

If you have any question, please contact Adrian.

Skills Refresher - 1 Month Left!

There are not just five weekends left for operational members to complete their annual Skills Refresher demonstrations. Under Shire of Mundaring directives, failing to complete this will preclude participation in fires over the coming fire season. It is therefore vitally important that all operational members take the time to ensure this important training and safety initiative.

If you are concerned about being able to make a regular training course between now and the 1st of November, please contact Ben M. or Adrian to arrange an alternative time.

School Visits

A number of visits to local schools have been organised over the next couple of months. Both Sawyers Valley Primary School and Mundaring Primary School will be involved, with visits including a presentation on bush fire safety at at school assembly, and an information evening for parents. The latter will be an opportunity for schools to present and discuss their Bush Fire Action Plan with parents, as well as allow parents to have their own plans reviewed by Brigade members.

The visit dates are:

Not only is this be beneficial to raising awareness of bush fire safety in the local community, but it presents an excellent opportunity for our Brigade to undertake some “soft” recruiting.

Anyone interested in participating in any of these events should contact Adrian.
