New Fire Danger Rating System

The new National Fire Danger Rating System has come into affect as of midnight on the 31st of August. The new system reduces the number of ratings, as well as changes the forecast districts.

Sawyers Valley is covered by the new Swan Inland North district.

The current fire danger ratings for the state can be found at http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/fire-danger-ratings.shtml and https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/#firedangerratings

IMT Exercise Training

In the lead up to the fire season, the Mundaring Firefighters School and Darling Range Brigade will be conducting a number of training exercises focused on Incident Management at large incidents. Members are invited to participate in these sessions, with a number of roles and opportunities available at all levels from crew member through to Incident Controller.

Exercises typically run over three hours on a Sunday.

If you are interested in participating in one of these exercises, please contact Adrian.

Administration

Station Open Day – Saturday, 1/10/2022

The open days are a good opportunity to connect with our community and showcase the station and what we do. This year’s open day will be held on 1/10/2022 (refer attached flyer) and to ensure the success of this event, members are asked to assist with the various activities which include demonstrations, kids activities and food prep. If you are able to assist can you please contact Adrian or Vicki as soon as possible.

Brigade Lunch – Parkerville Tavern

For the last few years, this event has been successfully held at the Parky from midday onwards and is open to all members and their families. Our calendar is quickly filling up with various events, however two Saturdays in October – 15th and 22nd – are possibilities.

To assist with finalising details, can members please let Vicki know their preferred date as soon as possible.

Walk – Station to the Mountie

Maybe not quite on the grand scale of a ‘City to Surf’ but promising to be as much fun, this 4 km walk for members and their families will commence at the Station on a Saturday (or Sunday) and end up with lunch at the Mountie…just need a date and an indication of numbers.

For further information and date suggestions, please contact either Vicki or Dave Wh.
