Wooroloo VBFB have requested assistance with completing a large burn in their area this weekend. A number of our members attended an assessment of the burn area last Saturday, and a burning strategy has been developed in conjunction with Wooroloo and Chidlow brigades.
The plan is to meet at our station at 09:30, to be in Wooroloo by 10:00. Both trucks will be made available, so there will be plenty of seats available and opportunity to be involved. Lunch will be provided, care of the Mt Helena Deli.
Anyone interested in assisting should contact Adrian.
As we slowly creep towards Summer, the number of High fire danger rated days will increase. Under the new fire danger rating system, an FDR of High or above will prohibit hazard reduction burning. With this being a new system, it is expected that many members of the public will not yet be familiar with the new rating and associated restrictions, leading to the possibility of call-outs to control burns on High FDR days.
Sawyers Valley, and the remainder of the Shire of Mundaring, is located within the Swan Inland North district. The four day forecast for fire danger ratings is available from the Bureau of Meteorology.
A reminder that the 2022 RUI Exercise is to be held on Saturday the 5th of November, in Muchea. The exercise will commence at 08:00, with brigades turning out (normal road) from their respective stations.
Both vehicles will be deployed for the duration of the exercise, and crewed by the following members:
One or two seats remain for anyone else interested in attending. The exercise is expected to conclude around 14:00.
Any questions or changes, please contact Adrian.
