South West and Midlands Fires

Following the transit of a large thunder storm across the central and lower parts of the state, a large number of fires are currently burning. Two “Complex[1]” Level 2 incidents have been established, at Ravensthorpe and Coolgardie. Resources from SWORD, Metro VFRS, and some metro bushfire brigades have been sent to assist at these incidents, although currently no Mundaring appliances have been deployed.

It remains possible that we will receive calls for crews to be deployed, although with the local weather worsening into Friday we may be held back for local incidents.

SoM Annual Volunteer Family Event, 25th March

This year’s Event will be held at Harry Riseborough Oval, Hartung Street Mundaring on Saturday 25th March 2023 commencing at 1700 hours, and is open to all volunteers and their families.

The format will be along similar lines as previous years with the tug-of-war between Brigades, State Emergency Service and all other challengers for the Fire & Emergency Services trophy. At the completion of the games there will be a presentation of Life Membership Awards, followed by the evening meal.

The catering for the event will be handled by WA Spit Roast, who will supply all the meat, salads, bread, desserts, condiments, cutlery and plates. Beer, wine and soft drink will be supplied. Please note there will be no charge.

A Bouncy Castle has been hired and a DJ will be providing the music. For your own comfort, it is suggested to bring along chairs or picnic rugs.

Anyone interested in the tug-of-war, please contact Vicki.

An invitation for the event is attached.
