Date: 24th May - 30th May
Turned out to assist Mundaring VFRS with a car fire on the West-bound side of Great Eastern Highway, near Stonehouse Loop.
Attended by: Adrian, Dave Wh. (station), John R. (station), Matt, and Shane.
To support the latest round of MR driver training, DFES has loaned a HSR (Hazmat Structural Rescue) tanker to the Shire. With spare engine bays at a premium across the Shire brigades, Sawyers has offered berthing at our station. To accommodate the extra vehicle, the tables near the stairs have been packed away, and the appliances moved around (Austin, HSR, 1.4, Light Tanker).
Whilst this vehicle is primarily for driver training, we may take the opportunity to incorporate it into our weekly training. The HSR is not available for operational use, and should not be deployed to incidents.
An important note; a spotter must be used when reversing the HSR into the engine bay. There is only a few centimetres between the rear bumper and the cupboard, and there is no margin for error.
No updates.
In a new initiative, the Brigade will be conducting a Culture Survey, to help gauge how the Brigade is travelling. The results will be recorded anonymously, and all members are strongly encouraged to participate. The results will be presented as part of the 2025 AGM.
