International Firefighter’s Day, 4th of May

The 4th of May is International Firefighter’s Day, which coincides with St Florian’s Day – the patron Saint of Firefighters. Each year, DFES holds a memorial service to pay respects to our fallen firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice in protecting the lives of others.

This year, DFES would like to invite the public to join us in King’s Park for the service on Sunday 6 May. See the full details below.

The Firefighters' Memorial Grove is located on the corner of Forrest Drive near the DNA Tower in King's Park.

No updates.

The latest Mundaring Fire School calendar is attached.

At the monthly general meeting on Monday night, the items to be purchased using the $10,000 grant were finalised. With the grant needing to be expended before the end of the financial year, time is definitely running out to get these purchases made and the paperwork into the Shire. The following items were agreed upon:

  • Flammable Liquids Store - $1661
  • Oxy Soc - $650
  • Thermal Imaging Camera - $1150
  • Workshop Compressor - $1000
  • Security Cameras - $2710
  • Workbench & Vice - $800
  • Facemask Cleaning Station - $1500
  • Security Lighting - balance of remaining funds

It will be very exciting to see this new equipment and improvements to the station in the very near future.

The Annual Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Street Appeal is on Friday the 18th of May. This has been a fantastic fund-raising activity for the brigade, and a great way of meeting volunteers from other brigades across the Bush Fire Service. Please indicate your interest in attending by emailing Michelle, or fill out the sign-up sheet in the station. The appeal will run from 07:00 until 18:00, and is centred around the Hay Street and Murray Street Malls.

The brigade is hosting a sundowner on Friday the 18th of May. Starts at 18:00 - drop in on your way home from work (or after your shift at the Annual Street Appeal!). BYO everything. Friends and family most welcome.
