Elliott of 18 McManus Street in Wilson a 1956 Austin Loadstar fire tender, for the princely sum of $450.00. The Brigade at the time wasn’t flush with funds so fundraising for the Austin was essentially a door knock, cake stalls, lots of burns and donations from the community which raised a total of $136. The Brigade wrote to the Shire for a grant to assist with the purchase however, it doesn’t appear to have been forthcoming, so brigade members F.A. Watts loaned the brigade $100, M. Gunther and R. Sonnerman both loaned the brigade $50 each to enable the Brigade to purchase the Austin. The Brigade also sold a Morris Commercial for $100 which was put towards the purchase. The Austin then needed to be decked out with a water tank, hoses etc. and again a letter was sent to the Shire for assistance. However, the Shire was unable to assist at the time and deferred the request until the commencement of the new financial year. ===== Weekly Calendar ===== * Saturday 28th: Training - Operational Driving, 09:30 at the Station * Monday 30th: General Brigade Meeting, 19:30 at the Station * Tuesday 31st: Weekly Vehicle Checks, 19:30 at the Station, Crew A * Tuesday 31st: BFAC * Thursday 2nd: Brigade Training Officer Group meeting ===== News ===== * [[https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-19/canada-fire-rfs-aid-south-coast-firefighters/100368814|ABC News: Batemans Bay's Canadian expat firefighter returns home to battle North American fire catastrophe]] * [[https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-22/climate-change-flood-fires-heatwaves-adaptations-australia/100389738|ABC News: Climate change means more floods, fires and heatwaves.
