The Shire donated the site and also the gravel foundation, Bell Bros were contracted to do the concrete pad for $126 and Wundowie Mills provided the timber. At one stage there was mention of bringing in a contractor to erect the shed, however as the brigade was cash poor the shed was erected by the members. While the shed was ready for occupation in December 1971, the building was far from complete. In the March 1974 minutes, there is a reference to a paint purchase to finally paint the shed and also an estimate to wire the fire shed – nothing like a work in progress. The first shed was also very small – to hold the monthly meetings the Austin had to be driven outside so the bench seating could be set up. This shed remained in operation for 16 years, before being sold and relocated just ‘down the road’ in Lacey Street. ===== Weekly Calendar ===== * Saturday : Training - Skills Refresher and Sector Commander, 09:30 at the Station * Tuesday : Weekly Vehicle Checks, 19:30 at the Station, Crew D ===== News ===== * Mirage News: Residential clean-up milestone for Wooroloo bushfire recovery * ABC News: Bushfires inquest hears of last moments of firefighter Samuel McPaul in fire tornado * ABC News: Rural fire brigades 'don't want to be in QFES' saying volunteers have 'less legal protection than pony club' * ABC News: Inquiry shown video of 'extreme' fire tornado that flipped fire truck, killing RFS volunteer Samuel McPaul * Govt. of WA: Deadline extended for Wooroloo Bushfire inquiry submissions * The History Guy: 9/11 and The History of Firefighting
