Reported fires were part of DBCA hazard reduction burning in the area. Attended by: Adrian, Denise, Keith, Matt, Michelle, and Shane. ==== Alberta, Canada Deployment ==== DFES are seeking expressions of interest from ten volunteer fire fighters to deploy to Canada, to undertake firefighting activities in Alberta. Details are limited at this stage, however indications are the team will deploy next week for up to six weeks. An "Arduous Fitness Test" must be completed prior to deployment (4.83km walk with 20.4kg weight within 45 minutes). Accepted volunteers will be contracted and remunerated for the duration of the deployment. Anyone interested should contact [[Captain@SawyersValley.bfb.asn.au|Adrian]] prior to Thursday afternoon. ==== Australian Fire Danger Rating System Survey ==== DFES are undertaking a survey which seeks feedback on the rollout of the new Australian Fire Danger Rating System. Being one of the most significant changes to bushfire management in recent years, it is important to take the time to provide feedback. The survey focuses mainly on the rollout and communication of the new AFDRS, however there is an opportunity toward the end of the survey to provide feedback on the impacts that the system has had on Brigade operations. The meeting was very straightforward with all nominees elected to their positions – * Chair – Warren Potts * Secretary – Vicki Lorantas * Treasurer – Jennifer Gardiner * Captain/Deputy Chair – Adrian Woodley * First Lieutenant – Dave White * Equipment Manager – Keith Woodley * Training Manager – Shane Bullock * Committee of Management – Denise Barker, Matthew Bartels, Sarah Clay and John Reynolds A vote of thanks was extended to outgoing Training Manager Ben Maywald, and Committee of Management members Rob Masetti and Dave Shaw. There were a number of awards announced – * Best New Member – Matt Bartels * Outstanding Service – Jennifer Gardiner * Equipment Manager – jointly awarded to Shane Bullock and John Reynolds Adrian also presented Ben Russo with his 5 year BFS Medal and Colin Sankey received his 25 year BFS Clasp.
