With the end of the fire season it is time to start looking towards completing the Annual Skills Refresher. Whilst there is plenty of time for this to be completed, it is hoped that everyone will be able to tick off the various skills during normal training activities. Please keep this in mind when attending training and hazard reduction burns, and take the opportunity to have a qualified member witness your demonstration of the various skills that are required.

A roster for the Permit Issuing Officers is attached. This roster aims to share the work load across the brigade's permit issuing officers during the restricted burning period. If you have and comments or changes, please contact Adrian.

The latest Mundaring Fire School calendar is attached.

At the March meeting a motion was passed which calls on the brigade to put the adoption of the Association Model Rules and the By-Laws to a vote at a special general meeting. Details of this meeting will be widely announced once a date has been selected.

Thank you to the Constitution Sub-Committee for the countless hours of work which has gone into the development of the proposed By-Laws.

Our newest member, Bruce, has invited the brigade to attend the Open Day of the Mundaring Toy Library. The open day will be held on Sunday the 8th of April, from 09:00 until 13:00. This could be a great opportunity for recruiting and community engagement. The Austin should be going, and we may take another appliance along as well. If you are interested in attending, please contact Adrian.

The Annual Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Street Appeal is on Friday the 18th of May. This has been a fantastic fund-raising activity for the brigade, and a great way of meeting volunteers from other brigades across the Bush Fire Service. Please indicate your interest in attending by emailing Michelle, or fill out the sign-up sheet in the station. The appeal will run from 07:00 until 18:00, and is centred around the Hay Street and Murray Street Malls.

The Shire have sent the brigade some information regarding the insurance policies which are held for bush fire brigades. Additionally, the Shire has highlighted the section of the Bush Fires Act 1954 which details the range of activities deemed to be normal brigade activities.
