Winter Burning Information Session - 24th June

In association with the Shire of Mundaring, Sawyers will be hosting an information session for local residents on conducting winter burning. This session will instruct residents on how to safely and effectively carry out burning on their own properties over winter.

Interested brigade members are encouraged to participate in the information session. Further sessions will be conducted over coming months at other brigades, allowing members and residents multiple opportunities to be involved.

Please forward this information on to your friends and neighbours, and encourage them to participate in this valuable program.

The Brigade is also seeking volunteers to help run the information session. With hopefully a good turn out from local residents, there will be lots of opportunity to discuss bushfire safety and volunteering.

New Probationary Fire-Fighters

Congratulations to Ben M. and Bruce for completing the Introduction to Fire Fighting course last weekend. This marks the beginning of their fire fighting journey and we wish them all the best for their future with Sawyers Valley.

The AIIMS 2017 course has been released. This replaced the AIIMS 4 course, with updated content for the news AIIMS structure. It is anticipated that a bridging course will be released in the new future for people who have already completed AIIMS 4.

On Saturday the 23rd of June, a State By-Election will be held for the seat of Darling Range. Mundaring Hall will be hosting a polling station, and this presents an ideal opportunity to undertake a recruiting drive. Volunteers are needed to man a recruitment stall outside the polling station throughout the day.

Please contact Adrian if you are able to assist.

The 2018 Reaffirmation Form has been circulated to all members. This form provides an opportunity for our members to update their details with the Brigade. Information collected in this form will be used to inform our operational response,as well as compile the Brigade's entry in the Shire of Mundaring Emergency Services Directory.

Completed forms should be returned no later than Monday the 2nd of July. Print-outs of the form will also be available at the station, next to the sign-in book.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Adrian or Vicki.
