Trial Training Courses
DFES are in the process of developing new training packages, covering:
- Suppress Rural Fire;
- Advanced Fire-fighting;
- External Fire-fighting
As part of the development process, they are seeking experienced fire-fighters who would be interested in participating in the training. The courses will be run on the 14th, 21st, and 28th of July. If you are interested in participating, please contact Adrian.
Bushfire Ready Facilitator Training
DFES is running Bushfire Ready Facilitator training on the 22nd of July, at the WAFES Academy in Forrestfield. The Bushfire Ready Program is a community-led program that provides an opportunity for neighbours to network, share ideas and information, and helps them to develop and implement plans to reduce their bushfire risk. It requires input and facilitation from Career or Volunteer personnel who can provide technical expertise on bushfire behaviour and preparation. The Bushfire Ready Facilitator role can be undertaken by any CFRS, VFRS, VFES and BFB personnel and can be applied for like any other course via eAcademy.
Attached is some information on the course and Course Information and Requirements.

2018 Reaffirmation Form
Thank you to everyone who has filled out their reaffirmation form for 2018. The response was tremendous and provides a valuable update the Brigade membership list and our collective availability and capabilities.
The information collected in the forms will go toward forming the new brigade roster in the coming weeks, ready for the fire season.
If you are yet to complete your reaffirmation firm it is not too late - print-outs are available next to the sign-in book at the station, or attached to previous newsletters.
Constitution Committee – Expressions of Interest
At the General Meeting on Monday 25/6/2018 it was agreed that the Constitution Committee be reformed to review and progress the Model Rules and By-Laws.
The Brigade Rules and By-Laws are important documents forming the guidelines on how our Association is to be run now and into the future. While the Model Rules cannot be changed, the By-Laws are designed to support the Model Rules and can be changed to reflect the mindset of the membership.
Brigade members who would like to serve on the Constitution Committee and become part of developing these two critical documents are asked to forward their expressions of interest to Michelle by Friday 20/7/2018.
Members who have concerns with any aspects of the Model Rules or By-Laws are encouraged to forward these to Michelle by 20/7/2018 to give the reformed Constitution Committee a basis to work from.
