Hazard Reduction Burn - 12th October
DFES will be conducting a Hazard Reduction Burn on Friday the 12th of October in Mahogany Creek. The burn is planned to start at 9:30 and lunch will be provided. Anyone interested in attending should contact Adrian.
2018/19 Skills Refresher
There are only three weeks remaining before the annual Skills Refresher must be completed by all operational members. The completion of the Skills Refresher is a Shire of Mundaring Bushfire Directive, and a requirement for being able to attend bush-fires over the coming season. Several members have already completed their Skills Refresher for the year, however some are yet to start it. If you are unsure how much you have completed, contact Rob, who has an up-to-date list of the Brigade's progress.
A special Skills Refresher Breakfast is being held on Saturday the 20th of October to provide enticement and opportunity for any members yet to complete their refresher. Breakfast will be served 10:00am to 11:00am. Demonstrations/assessments will be held at the following time slots;
- 9:30am - LACES, Map reading, comms, etc
- 10:30am - drafting (light tanker & 1.4)
- 11:30am - burn over drill
- 12:30pm - stand pipe, pump/hose/foam use.
Please make an effort to complete this important safety initiative prior to the cut-off on the 1st of November. Any questions, please contact Rob or Adrian.

Leg Wax for Cancer
Chidlow member Gary Rowles walked 100km for Oxfam on the weekend and this upcoming weekend he will be riding 200kms for Cancer. In the very early hours of Oxfam, somehow his Oxfam family (Verity, Dee, Cat and Syd) convinced him to wax his legs for charity… and with that an event at the Chidlow pub was created. Please see the flyer attached but it would be great to come down, donate what you can and support Gary in his efforts to raise money for cancer research.
