Bushfire, Flynn Road, 4th February

Turned out to report of smoke on Gorrie Road. Fire was found on Flynn Road, in the pine plantation. Fire was escalated to 3rd alarm and involved a large number of resource. Sawyers Valley provided two shifts of crews. Attended by Ben M., Chad, Kath, Keith, Nick T., and Warren.

Bushfire, Gorrie Road, 6th February

Turned out to report of fire on Gorrie Road. Fire started by burnt out car. Large area already alight by the time crews arrived. Fire escalated to 3rd alarm, with most Shire of Mundaring appliances attending, as well as out of area brigades. Attended by Adrian, Ben M., Dave W., Keith, Michelle, and Warren.

Sawyers Valley are teaming up with Darling Range, Mt Helena, and Parkerville brigades to run an information stand at the the Blue Sky Festival. The festival will be held in Mundaring, on the 17th of March, and covers a range of environmental and sustainability issues in the Mundaring Hills.

Volunteers are requested to help with the information stand; talking to the general public about bushfire safety, prescribed burning and, most importantly, joining their local volunteer bushfire brigade. If you are interested in assisting with this event please contact Adrian or Michelle.
