Administration
Recruitment Drive, Saturday 18th
Based on past successes, the Brigade will be running a recruitment drive at the polling station at Sawyers Valley Primary School. This has previously worked quite well, and all Brigade members are encouraged to spend an hour or so on Saturday at the polling station.
If you are available, please contact Vicki.
Special Resolution - Changes to Brigade Code of Conduct
The Brigade Code of Conduct has references to Brigade President or President and Training Officer. To ensure consistency within all Brigade documents, it will be necessary to substitute the words Brigade President or President to Chairperson; and Training Officer to Training Manager.
In accordance with the By-Laws any changes to the Code of Conduct must be by special resolution (see SB-4, Code of Conduct).
This resolution will be raised as during the General Meeting scheduled for Monday the 27th of May (prior to the AGM).
Proposed Special Resolution:
The following changes be made to the Sawyers Valley Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Inc. Code of Conduct Policy.
That the words –
- Brigade President or President be replaced with Chairperson; and
- Training Officer to Training Manager
Additional information:
- Notice of a proposed special resolution must be sent to all members of the Association.
- The proposed alteration can only be made if supported by 75% of members voting at the meeting.
- The proposed alteration does not need to be lodged with the Commissioner for Consumer Protection as it does not affect the Rules.
Annual Street Appeal, 17th May
The Annual Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Street Appeal is on Friday the 17th of May. This has been a fantastic fund-raising activity for the brigade, and a great way of meeting volunteers from other brigades across the Bush Fire Service. Organisers will be signing up attendees on the day, however an indication of numbers will assist with logistics and planning.
The appeal will run from 07:00 until 18:00, and is centred around the Hay Street and Murray Street Malls.
The more members we have attending the street appeal, the greater our share of the takings will be. Interested members should RSVP to Michelle.
Mt Helena Billy Cart Festival
Mt Helena Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade have again extended an invitation for other brigades to compete against them in the (now annual!) Hills Billy Cart Festival. Last year Mt Helena and Darlington Brigades entered carts, and it is hoped that more brigades participate this year. There is hope that this may develop into an annually awarded trophy, similar to the Tug-o-War.
Brigades have also been invited to participate in the event's emergency management team.
Anyone interested in participating in either aspect of the festival should contact Adrian.
The festival will be held on Sunday the 27th of October.
