Unattended Burn, 3rd June

Called out late Monday evening to assist Chidlow VBFB at a bushfire resulting from an unattended burn. A large area was found to be burning, evidently since earlier in the day. Access proved to be difficult, and a front-end loader was brought in to cut a break. Both vehicles also suffered from electrical difficulties.

Attended by Adrian, Danika, Elton, and Warren.

Illegal Burn, 6th June

Turned out to report of illegal at Elizabeth Ave, Mundaring. Assisted the occupant to full extinguish the fire and make safe.

Attended by Chad, Dave R., Elton, and Graeme.

Restricted Burning Period Extended

Due to the on-going dry weather, the Restricted Burning Period has been extended until the 14th of June. Permits will continue to be required to set fires during the day, although 1sqm piles may be burnt individually between 6pm and midnight.

Rain over this weekend will likely amend this restriction.

No updates.

The latest Mundaring Fire School calendar is attached.

Mt Helena Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade have again extended an invitation for other brigades to compete against them in the (now annual!) Hills Billy Cart Festival. Last year Mt Helena and Darlington Brigades entered carts, and it is hoped that more brigades participate this year. There is hope that this may develop into an annually awarded trophy, similar to the Tug-o-War.

Brigades have also been invited to participate in the event's emergency management team.

Chad and Danika have expressed an interest in forming a team, and this could be a fun exercise for the brigade to participate in.

The festival will be held on Sunday the 27th of October.
