Off the back of the successful Santa Run, and the high level of media attention regarding bush fires now is an ideal time for a recruiting drive. Over the next couple of weeks we will be aiming to complete a letter drop across Sawyers Valley, urging local residence to consider joining our Brigade. Volunteers to complete the letter drop are urgently needed!

If you are available to assist, please contact Dave Wh. or Adrian, and if you know someone who may be interested please encourage them to come along to the station on a Saturday morning.

The Bassendean and Swan Volunteer Resource Centres are hosting two free community workshops:

Planning a Community Event

An Introduction to Event Management for community groups. An event is an effective way of bringing together the community and displaying your group and its objectives, this Workshop will be an overview of what you need to know to organise a successful and safe event.

Writing Winning Grants

Government grants are becoming scarcer and more difficult to obtain. Get your creative juices flowing; you will leave the workshop with lots of new ideas about how you can raise funds for your organisation beyond sausage sizzles and chocolate frogs.

Aimed at first-time grant writers and those looking for guidance on the grant writing process, this course acts as an important introduction to the world of philanthropy, grant making and grant seeking.
