The Mundaring Firefighters School have provided the following information regarding meals provided at training courses;

Lunch will usually be provided at courses that run for more than half a day. When you apply for a course, either online in eAcademy or on a form TPM01 for local courses, you will be offered an option to nominate any special dietary requirements. The purpose of this is to ensure that we don't offer food that might harm a member's health. Therefore, members should be careful to explain exactly what their special needs might be. It is not an option to choose a special menu.

Also, please note that at the Mundaring Firefighters School, lunches are made by elderly ladies who volunteer with the CWA. A standard lunch is a salad roll and a piece of fruit. For vegetarian meals, we can leave out the meat. It is not easy for the CWA ladies to go beyond this.

A number of awards and medals were presented at the AGM last Monday evening –

• Les Ryan Trophy for Best New Member awarded to Sarah Clay
• Keith Woodley Trophy for Outstanding Services awarded to Ben Maywald
• Equipment Managers Trophy awarded to John Reynolds
• National Medal (15 year service) presented to Kath Tester, Nick Tester and Adrian Woodley
• National Medal 2nd Clasp (35 year service) presented to Keith Woodley
• Life Membership of the SVVBFB to John Lorantas, Graeme Stewart, Nick Tester and Warren Pott

Just a reminder that the Annual Volunteer Family Event will be held at the Mundaring Recreational Ground, Mundaring Weir Road this Saturday 5 June 2021 commencing at 1700 hours. In case of unfavourable weather, the event will be moved into the Arena.

The format will be along similar lines as previous years with the tug of war between brigades, State Emergency Service and all other challengers kicking off at 1730 hours. At the completion of the games there will be a presentation of Life Membership Awards, followed by the evening meal.

The catering for the event will be handled by WA Spit Roast, who will supply all the meat, salads, bread, desserts, condiments, cutlery and plates. Beer, wine and soft drink will be supplied. Please note there will be no charge.

A Bouncy Castle has been hired and a DJ will be providing the music. For your own comfort, I suggest you bring along chairs or picnic rugs.

Back in March the Parky Tavern hosted the Big Relief Fundraiser to raise money for brigades and the Lord Mayors Fund. Our share of the event came to $9,141.10, so what to do with this generous donation? Suggestions so far include donating all or part to those impacted by the recent Wooroloo fires; installing a water tank at the Station; outdoor area for BBQ’s social gatherings. Whilst the item is on the June agenda for discussion, in the meantime can members please think about how best to use this unexpected windfall.
