False Alarm, Monday 16th
Called to report of an unattended fire at Mitton Place, Sawyers Valley. Stood down by Mundaring Fire Protection Officers before the Light Tanker arrived.
Attended by: Adrian, Denise, Keith, Michelle, and Shane.
Changes to the Bushfire Warning System
In conjunction with the other fire agencies across Australia, DFES has announced plans to roll out the new Australian Warning System (AWS). AWS unifies bushfire warnings across Australia, using consistent terminology, colours, and iconography.
Attached is a the AWS Fact Sheet that explains the changes. The warning system shall be in place for the coming bushfire season.

Mundaring Fire School
The latest training calendar from the Mundaring Fire School is attached.
Initial Control at Wildfire is scheduled to run on the 20th of November, and still has a large number of vacancies. This important course teaches the basics of Incident Management and furnishes fire fighters with the skills required to manage an incident during the opening stages. Aspiring Crew Leaders are encouraged to enrol in this course.

Draft Media Policy
Attached is the draft Media Policy for your consideration and review. Can members please forward any comments to Vicki before Friday the 10th of September. The draft Media Policy will also be placed on the September agenda for discussion and adoption.
Photo Registry
Warren has developed a photo registry on One Drive to digitally store Brigade photos. Members are asked to forward any Brigade related photos in Jpeg format, together with date, location, name of the photographer and any other relevant details to chair@sawyersvalley.bfb.asn.au
Thursday Work Group
If any members are at a loose end on Thursday’s, please feel free to come along to the Station from 10:00 hours onwards. Current jobs include Austin maintenance, minor patching and painting, re-fixing tiles, realign cupboard doors. Morning tea and a BBQ lunch are provided.
