On 2nd November 1973, the Sawyers Valley Bushfire Brigade convened a special meeting which was held at the Sawyers Hall. The meeting was to consider disbanding the Brigade, due to lack of local support and the workload falling on the shoulders of three or four of its membership.

Following the meeting, attended by Shire of Mundaring representatives, Brigade members and the general public, it was agreed that the Brigade would continue with assistance from the Shire to help gain support from the Sawyers Valley community.

It must have worked, we are still here!
