DBCA Seasonal Crew Openings
The Perth Hills District Fire Coordinator has indicated that they are currently seeing a significant shortfall in crew numbers, and are looking for new people that are interested in applying for a position for the remainder of this season. Contracts are for up to 6 months, with positions likely available in all work areas. Successful applicants would be in a good position for reemployment in the 2022/23 seasonal intake.
Anyone interested in applying for should email Richard Reid at DBCA.
Substantial Rain, 14th Feb
Sawyers Valley and Mt Helena received a significant fall of rain over a short period of time on Monday the 14th. Over 30mm of rain was recorded, falling in under an hour. Such heavy rain will reduce the potential for bushfire in the local area for a period, however it should be noted that no rain fell in nearby areas, including much of the Shire. Therefore the potential for bushfire remains within the Shire and across the wider metro area, and the season is far from over.
