On Friday the 10th of June 2022, the COVID-19 mandatory vaccination policy for all FES workers ended. For volunteers this means that un-vaccinated volunteers may return to regular duties and enter FES sites. Whilst our Brigade enjoyed an exceptionally high rate of compliance with this directive, it is important to appreciate that this was not necessarily the case across the Bush Fire Service, or other volunteer emergency services. With the mandate lifted, it is likely all volunteer emergency services will see a number of returning volunteers. It is important that we show compassion and understanding towards any volunteers who chose to take a leave of absence during this time and are now returning to their roles.

Attached is a Volunteer Support Guide, issued by DFES concerning the end of the COVID-19 mandate.

This Saturday Jessica Shaw, out local state MP, will be visiting our station at 09:00. Her visit will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the vehicle wash-down bay and quick refill. Members attending Saturday training are asked to come a little earlier to welcome Jessica and her entourage.

Many thanks to those members who have already taken tickets. I do have a couple of spare books available so please contact Vicki on 0407 831 315 or secretary@sawyersvalley.bfb.asn.au if you would like a book of tickets.

The TWG recommences on June 9th. If you are handy and can spare a couple of hours to help with equipment or station maintenance we would appreciate your assistance. Morning, afternoon teas and lunch are provided and we generally start off at around 1000 hours. Please contact Vicki on 0407 831 315 or secretary@sawyersvalley.bfb.asn.au for more information.

The MFS has been shortlisted for a P&N grant up to $2000 and if successful, intends to use the grant to purchase equipment required to practice burnover drills. P&N customers can vote to select the successful nominees. It would be appreciated, that if any of our members are P&N bank customers, or know someone who is, to consider voting for the Mundaring Fire School. If requested to supply a mobile number Rod Teale, the MFS Secretary has advised that we can use his mobile 0439 578 443.
