Rubbish Fire, 27th September

Called by police to report of a bushfire on Barlow St. Initial reports indicated the fire potentially involved two cars, however it was found to be a single mattress left out for curb-side collection.

Attended by Adrian, Denise, John R., Michelle, and Shane.

The 1st of October marks the start of the Restricted Burning Period in the Shire of Mundaring. Residents will require a permit to burn, or are limited to burning 1sqm piles after 18:00. Permits will be available from the Shire via the online request process, or by attending the station on a Saturday morning.

At this time no enhanced restrictions have been placed on the issuing of permits and normal permit conditions will apply.

A roster for the Permit Issuing FCOs shall be drawn up in due course. Anyone interested in becoming a Permit FCO in the future should arrange to shadow one of our current FCOs and gain some experience in the permit issuing process.

If you have any question, please contact Adrian.

There is just over one month remaining for operational members to complete their pre-season skills refreshers before the 1st of November deadline. Shire of Mundaring policy requires that all volunteer fire fighters complete the refresher annually in order to attend incidents and hazard reduction burns.

Currently the brigade is sitting at just over 50% completion, with a number of member having already completed the entire skills refresher. If you have not yet started, or have a significant part of the skills refresher to complete please contact Ben M., Dave Wh., or Adrian to organise a time when this can be done.

Vicki reports that John's surgery has gone well, and he is now recovering in ICU. He is expected to remain in hospital for at least a week before returning to Vicki's tender care.

We all wish John the best for a speedy recovery.

The open days are a good opportunity to connect with our community and showcase the station and what we do. This year’s open day will be held on 1/10/2022 (refer attached flyer) and to ensure the success of this event, members are asked to assist with the various activities which include demonstrations, kids activities and food prep. Many thanks to those members who have already indicated their availability. If you are able to assist can you please contact Adrian or Vicki as soon as possible.

Setup will kick off around 09:00. Members assisting with the open day are asked to park in the church car park, accessible from Helena Terrace.

Someone needs to remind Adrian on Saturday morning to bring the eggs.

This year’s lunch will be held again at the Parkerville Tavern on Saturday 22/10/2022, commencing at 12 noon and is open to all members, their partners and children. As with previous lunches, the Brigade will provide the meal and limited drinks, i.e. beer, wine, cider, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Cocktails and spirits are at members expense.

If members can please email through attendance and menu selections i.e. entrée and main or main and dessert to me by 12/10/2022 that would be appreciated.
