Christmas - New Year Roster
With the holiday period kicking off in earnest at the end of this week, a roster has been created to help ensure that the Brigade maintains a minimum operating crew throughout this period, whilst sharing the responsibilities across the members.
Version 1.0 of the roster is attached. Hopefully everyone's comments and requests have been incorporated into this update, but please take some time to review it and ensure that you will be available when requested.
Any problems please contact Adrian.

DBCA PaWS Seeking Seasonal Fire Crews
Due to a current shortfall in crew numbers the Parks and Wildlife Service are looking for new people that would be interested in getting a job on their crews for the remainder of this season. The contracts would be at least through until mid-April. At this stage most of the available positions are located in the Jarrahdale and Dwellingup work centres. These individuals would also be in the best position to be re-employed in the 2022/23 seasonal intake.
DBCA is able to directly appoint new employees without a formal recruitment process for periods of 6 months or less. If you are interested in applying please send a resume to Richard Reid by the 11th of January.
There will only be limited positions available, so make sure that to put your best foot forward if you are keen!
Successful applicants will be required to undertake the DBCA fire line training before they can be deployed to a fire line.

Brigade Caps/Hats
It was agreed at a Brigade General Meeting to purchase a quantity of caps and brimmed hats with the proceeds raised from the 2022 Bendigo Community Bank Raffle, and to supply either a cap or a hat to Brigade members at no cost. Attached, is an order form should members wish to place an order. A charge of $20/cap or hat may apply should members wish to order more than one item, however at this stage no money is required. If members can please email completed orders to secretary@sawyersvalley.bfb.asn.au by the required date that would be greatly appreciated.
Santa Lolly Run
Another successful lolly run this year, with Santa and his Naughty Elf bringing smiles and joy to loads of children in Sawyers Valley and the wider Mundaring community. This year’s run was held over two mornings – Tuesday and Wednesday 20 & 21st December, and thankfully was over before the heat set in. Our community were very appreciative and generous with donations of beer, wine, fruit, coffee from Steep Hill and also cash donations, including a donation from the Woodward family of $1,100.
Thanks this year to drivers and escorts Adrian, Denise, John L, John R, Sarah and Shane; washing, decorating and de-tinselling the appliances Denise, John L, John R, Michelle and Shane; media Sarah and Michelle; lollies Sticky Fingers and Jen; organising Michelle with special mention and thanks to Dave We and Rob for again stepping into their respective roles of Santa and the Naughty Elf.
