Conducting the Annual Skills Refresher has started for 2023. All operational members are reminded that the Refresher must be completed by the 1st of November. The 2023 Refresher is attached.

The National Council for fire and emergency services has release the Seasonal Bushfire Outlook for Winter 2023.

Australia has returned to a more normal period of rainfall following a very wet 12 months due to La Niña and negative Indian Ocean Dipole events influencing the Australian climate.

The 2023 Bushfire Volunteers Association AGM will be held on Saturday the 9th of September, at the Crown Convention Centre. All bushfire volunteers are eligible to nominate for board positions, as well as zone representatives. Nominations must be submitted by 17:00 on the 13th of August.

More information concerning the Board and Zone Representative positions is available on the Bushfire Volunteers website. The Notice of Meeting for the AGM is attached.

The Shire of Mundaring has released the latest draft (version 20230620) of the Bushfire Operating Procedures for review and comment. The procedures aim to provide guidance and instruction for Shire bushfire brigades, and bushfire activities.

The BOPs cover large parts of brigade activities and operations, and can provide a significant influence in how a brigade operates. It is therefore recommended that all members familiarise themselves with this document and provide any relevant feedback.

Feedback will be collected over the coming weeks, with a collated submission presented to the Shire of Mundaring.
