The DFES Metro North East region will hold an incident management training exercise day on Saturday, 14 October, from approx. 0800-1600hrs. The intent is to provide groups of brigade volunteers with an opportunity to exercise and further develop their incident management skills.

The day will consist of a presentation and discussion on applicable legislation and the initial actions required of first-arriving crews at fires. Participants will then be split into groups and provided with the opportunity to put their skills and knowledge into practice within several scenarios.

This training/exercise is designed for developing members of brigades or those who have yet to have much of an opportunity to practice their skills and knowledge in the field, other training, or exercises. Participants are expected to have a good understanding of the principles of AIIMS and an awareness of the actions required of a Level 1 IC.

Five places are available across the Shire of Mundaring Bush Fire Brigades at this stage. If you are interested in attending this exercise, please contact Adrian before Friday the 8th of September.

DFES has released a second version of the online resource, titled Update on the Government response to the Wooroloo review. The resource, which was developed in response to stakeholder feedback, aims to provide all interested community members and stakeholders with a quarterly progress report and next steps for each recommendation.

The Wooroloo Bushfire review was completed by AFAC in March 2022. A number of recommendations were made to enhance prevention, preparedness, response and recovery to bushfire in WA. The second release of the Update on the Government response to the Wooroloo review – August 2023 is now available on the WA Government website.
