The Prohibited Burn Period has been extended until Saturday the 28th of April. This includes all hazard reduction burning, including by fire brigades, as well as 1sqm piles by residents.

There is not significant rain forecast until June, and recent weeks have demonstrated that the bush is very dry and able to carry fire.

It is possible that news of this extension will not reach all parts of the community and we can expect a number of call-outs associated with illegal burns over the next few weeks.
