The Operational Readiness Plan, first developed last year, is due for review. This plan sets out how the brigade intends to prepare for it's operational obligation in the coming fire season. If you have any comments or suggestions for the plan, please forward them to Adrian. The plan will hopefully be presented ahead of the August brigade meeting. A copy of last year's plan is attached.

The 2018 Fireghting Awards presentation ceremony will be held on Friday the 7th of September, in the BelleVue Ballroom at the Perth Convention Centre. Tickets for Volunteers are free, and available by contacting the DFES Events Team. A flier for the event is attached.

The Brigade is required nominate members to be appointed as Permit Issuing Fire Control Officers. These officers have the responsibility of issuing permits to burn during the Restricted Burning Period within the Shire of Mundaring. Expressions of Interest are sought for suitably experienced and qualified members to nominate for this important position.

  • Station maintenance;
  • Vehicle make-up;

Whilst the role will not involve active fire fighting, a solid knowledge of fire fighting and operational requirements is required.

At the General Meeting on Monday 25/6/2018 it was agreed that the Constitution Committee be reformed to review and progress the Model Rules and By-Laws.

The Brigade Rules and By-Laws are important documents forming the guidelines on how our Association is to be run now and into the future. While the Model Rules cannot be changed, the By-Laws are designed to support the Model Rules and can be changed to reflect the mindset of the membership.

Brigade members who would like to serve on the Constitution Committee and become part of developing these two critical documents are asked to forward their expressions of interest to Michelle by Friday 20/7/2018.

Members who have concerns with any aspects of the Model Rules or By-Laws are encouraged to forward these to Michelle by 20/7/2018 to give the reformed Constitution Committee a basis to work from.

The Brigade is considering getting a SVVBFB team together to walk the 12km City to Surf Perth course in August.

  Date: Sunday 26th August 2018
  Start time: 8:10am
  Dress: Full PPE (trainers not boots)
  Distance: 12km
  Speed: Walk

The registration fee is $49-55 per person. It has been proposed that the Brigade could pay 50% of the registration (details to be discussed at the end of month Brigade meeting).

This will be a family event, so anyone is welcome to join in. Currently we have Adrian, Ben R., Dave W., Lorna, Keith, Michelle, Rob, and Vicki lined up.

Please contact Michelle if you are interested in participating.
