Pole Fire, 9th November

Turned out to report of a pole fire, Sawyers Rd. Result of an electrocuted possum. Small grass fire, extinguished by passer-by. Attended by Dave W., Graeme, Keith Michelle, and Rob.

RUI Exercise, 17th November

A reminder that the annual Rural Urban Interface Exercise will be conducted on Saturday the 17th of November. This year the exercise is being conducted in conjunction with the City of Swan, with a Task Force being deployed to the City of Swan from the Shire of Mundaring.

Details for the Sawyers Valley involvement will be sent in a separate email.

The Constitution Committee has now completed its review of the Association’s draft by-laws, and would like to present the following documents to the Brigade for their consideration –

While feedback from the previous consultation period was limited, the Constitution Committee did endeavour to incorporate suggested changes into the current draft By-laws document.

To assist the membership in identifying changes to the BylawsAndCoC document, please note the following –

  • The Member’s Statement has been rationalised and clarified into three clear paragraphs i.e. Mission, Members, Commitment;
  • BO-2 1) f) has been relocated to follow a;
  • SB-4 Code of Conduct has been added to enshrine it in the Brigade By-laws;
  • BL-1 now includes a definition for BRIGADE ACTIVITIES
  • BL-8 has been clarified and includes Life Member as an ordinary or associate member and the Guidance Notes have been expanded;
  • BL-43, BL-48 and BL-55 have been revised to require attendees at meetings to abide by the Rules and By-laws of the Association, including the Code of Conduct Policy;
  • BL-53 Proxies has been clarified;
  • Minor grammatical changes; and
  • Substantial formatting changes to align all documentation.

As these documents belong to you the membership, all members are encouraged to take the time to familiarise and direct all comments to the Secretary by Thursday, 22/11/2018.

To assist with the consultation process, there is the option to hold information sessions at the station either Saturday mornings from 1000 hours (10/11/18, 17/11/18) or Wednesday evenings from 1930 hours (14/11/18, 21/11/18). If you are interested in attending any of these proposed sessions can you please contact the Secretary with your preferred option? Please note that these sessions will only be held if members register their intent to attend.

Dependent on the extent of required changes, it is envisaged that at the November 26th general meeting a date can be set for a Special General Meeting for the purpose of adopting the draft Rules of Association.
