Called to assist Wooroloo with reported scrub fire at the Downunder Charolais Stud. Fire conditions were mild, however the fire had covered a large area, leading to extensive mopping up.

Attended by Ben M., Dave R., Dave W., Elton, and Warren.

Special congratulations to Dave W. for competing his first fire as a Crew Leader.

Control Burn - Marshwood Pl, Weds 10th October

A Control Burn is planned for Wednesday the 10th of October, at 745 Marshwood Pl. Five to six people will be required to complete this burn, which is anticipated to take five hours. If you are available to assist with this burn, please contact Warren.

Roster and BART

As the Fire Season is almost upon us, now is the time to start updating your availability regularly in BART. This provides an indication of likely Brigade turn-out strength, and assists with planning for multi-shift fires.

It is also important to start paying closer attention to the Roster. During their rostered week members are urged to ensure their are available, or have organised someone else to cover them.

The current Brigade Roster is attached.

Mundaring Shire Pre-Season Forum - Saturday 19th October

DFES and the Shire of Mundaring have this year put together a Pre-Season Forum.

The forum will be held on Saturday 19th October at the Mundaring Arena, starting at 0900hrs and concluding 1200 hrs and followed by a light lunch.

The presentations will cover:

  • Bushfire Investigation - DFES Fire Investigation Unit;
  • Statement and evidence gathering - Shire of Mundaring Community Safety;
  • Wellness self-care, identifying someone who may not be travelling well - DFES wellness department;
  • Weather and the impacts for bushfire behaviour - RFD Bushfire Technical Service;

The forum is open for all Mundaring member of the Bush Fire Service, State Emergency Service and Fire and Rescue Service.

RSVPs have now closed for this event, however those interested are still encouraged to attend (the Brigade has RSVP'd for 10 people).

No updates.

The latest Mundaring Fire School calendar is attached.

A Station Open Day is planned for the 2nd of November. This will be an opportunity for local residence to inspect the station, meet our Brigade members, and hopefully take away some valuable information regarding bushfire safety and volunteering.

A large number of activities are being organised for kids; including games, treasure hunts, branch target practise, and photographs. A number of presentations are also planned, covering bushfire safety, home preparation, winter burning, and volunteering.

This open day will be a fantastic opportunity for the Brigade to engage with the local community, and hopefully drive some recruitment. A large amount of assistance will be required to prepare for the day, so if you are interested please contact Adrian.

Current outstanding roles include:

  • Distribute fliers to local notice boards and businesses
  • Wash and prepare appliances
  • Clean and tidy station
  • Organise and run Sausage Sizzle
  • Photographer for children's photos with the Austin
  • Assist with kids activities

If you are able to assist, please contact Adrian or Ben R.

We have one book of 10 tickets still available if anyone would be able to sell them. All proceeds from the Raffle remain with the Brigade. This is a very easy fundraiser so if you can assist it would be appreciated.

Raffle ticket books need to be back to Jen by Saturday 19th October.

The Mt Helena Billy Cart Festival is coming up at the end of the month. Sawyers Valley has offered to assist Mt Helena with the emergency management of the event, and we are still seeking volunteers to assist. If you are interested and available, please contact Adrian.
