Burn Planned, Saturday 8th August

With a bit of fine weather this week an opportunity for a burn presents itself. Warren has organised a reasonably large 2.4ha burn South of Mundaring, which will require a large number of people to assist. The plan is for a minimum crew of eight to complete the burn, starting at midday on Saturday.

If you are able to assist, please contact Adrian.

The Operation Driving course will be completed over one and a half days, and comprises of both theory and practical assessment for on and off-road driving under operational (emergency) conditions. This course must be completed as a perquisite to the Heavy Vehicle training.

Dates for the courses are:

  • Light Vehicle:
    • 19th & 20th September;
    • 26th & 27th September.
  • Heavy Vehicle:
    • 17th October;
    • 18th October.

Demand for this training is expected to be high, so please submit application early. Contact Adrian or Ben M. for more details.

The new Committee of Management is of to a cracking start, and has discussed a proposal for changing the process for handling financial motions. The proposal is that motions concerning the spending of Brigade funds, or other financial matters, must be circulated to the Brigade with sufficient notice ahead of a general meeting. The specifics for how much notice will be required, and when items will be called for ahead of each meeting are yet to be determined, however two weeks is the current proposal.

This change will take some getting used to, and could initially slow some progress on work around the Brigade, however it is felt by the Committee that it will ultimately improve the quality of governance of the Brigade and streamline meetings.

If you have any questions or comments on this proposal, please contact Warren or Adrian.
