The Brigade received a request for resources to form part of a Strike Team assisting with fires around Goomalling. Along with a number of other brigades from the Shire of Mundaring, as well as brigades outside of the Shire, Sawyers Valley 1.4 completed a full day of mopping up at the Walyormouring.

From the 1st of December we enter into the Prohibited Burning Period. From now until the end of March all burning, including garden refuse, is prohibited. This marks the start of the Fire Season, and demands a heightened state of readiness for the Brigade.

To ensure the Brigade maintains its operational capability throughout the holiday period, without overly burdening individual members, a roster shall be drawn up for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. If you will be unavailable for any of these days, please let Adrian or Dave Wh. know so this can be factored into the roster. Where possible individual members shall be on roster for only one of these four days.

It is also a good time to remind members that alcohol should be avoided when on roster. Whilst volunteers are allowed up to 0.05% BAL, it is requested that members abstain from drinking when on roster or prior to turning out to an incident.

Attached is an invitation for members and their families to attend this year’s Christmas Party, which will be held at the Station on Tuesday, 27th December. Members are asked to RSVP to Vicki by Friday 16th December, indicating numbers attending and whether providing a salad or dessert.

The dates for the 2021 Santa run have been set for the 20th and 21st of December. Drivers and support crew are needed - those interested in assisting should contact Michelle.
