Shed Fire, Coolagrdie St, 25th Sept
Called to assist at shed fire outside of Gazetted Fire District, on Coolgardie St in Mundaring. Whilst FRS retained operational control of the incident, a bushfire brigade was required in line with the Bush Fires Act.
Attended by: Matt and Shane.
Escaped Bonfire, Goslin St Sawyers Valley, 25th Sept
Turned out to report of escaped bonfire on Goslin St in Sawyers Valley. There was an insufficient break around the bonfire and it threatened to escape into nearby bush.
Attended by: Dave R., Denise, Matt, and Shane.
Mid-band VHF Radios Decommissioned
Contractor for DFES Radio Communications shall be attending the station on Thursday to decommission the mid-band VHF radio in the 1.4. It is unclear whether this will be replaced with a second UHF radio, or left as a stand-alone high-band VHF radio. The former will leave the 1.4 equipped the same as the Light Tanker, with a yellow High-VHF/UHF pair and a single High-VHF radio.
While this will not overly affect the operations of our brigade (mid-band having been largely retired several years ago), mid-band VHF has been in common use by neighbouring brigades up until recently. It may be expected that these brigades will take some time adjusting to the new arrangements, and in particular may have issue with select the appropriate High-VHF channel for 6IP.
Any questions please contact Adrian.
