Illegal Burn, O'Conner Rd, 1st April
Called in investigate report of a fire on O'Conner Rd, Mundaring. Fire reported as an illegal burn by Glen Forrest VBFB.
Attended by Danika, Dave R., Dave Wh., John Re., and Warren.
Updates
Restricted Burning Period
The Restricted Burning Period started on the 1st of April, and permits residents to burn a 1sqm pile after 18:00. Conditions on permits remain unchained, with the effects of recent rain yet to be felt in the Soil Dryness Index. It is expected that these restrictions will be lifted in the next few days to week, although this will be weather dependant.
Bushfire Ready Facilitator Training
DFES will be running training for Bushfire Ready Facilitators on Saturday the 15th of may. Facilitators work with local Bushfire Ready Groups to help improve bushfire preparedness in the community. To apply for the training members must have a minimum of 6 months fire fighting experience, and have completed the Bushfire Safety (previously Intro to Bushfire Fire Fighting) and Bushfire Fighting Skills (previously Bushfire Fire Fighting).
Applications can be made through eAcademy, before Friday the 30th of May. A flier for the training is attached.

Life Membership Nominations
Nominations for Life Membership are tabled at an Annual General or Special General Meeting. As our AGM is scheduled for Monday 31st May 2021, included is an extract from the SVVBFB By-Laws which relates to the criteria and nomination process for Life Membership of the Association -
“Life membership of the Association may be granted by the Association to any person as an honour in recognition of outstanding service to the Brigade.
(1) Nominations for life membership shall be made, through the committee, to an AGM or Special General Meeting and the granting of life membership shall be by a majority vote of voting members.
(2) Nominations for Life membership shall be made to the committee for consideration at least 6 weeks before the AGM or Special General Meeting. Such nominations shall include a suitable citation of achievements and record of membership supporting the nomination.
(3) To be eligible for life membership the committee must be satisfied that the member has given outstanding service to the Brigade activities and has served as an active member of the Association for a minimum of 10 years.
(4) If not satisfied that life membership be granted the committee shall notify the nominator of the reasons for the decision and the application shall lapse.”
