Starting on Wednesday the 22nd, the Mariginup fire ultimately burnt through 1,900ha and destroyed 18 homes. Sawyers Valley committed a total of four shifts across the weekend. The fire was declared contained and controlled on Sunday the 26th of November.

Called to report of a fire at the base of a pole on Sexton St in Sawyers Valley. The fire was largely extinguished by passers-by with shovels. A fried possum was determined as the cause of the fire.
