False Alarm, Forrest St, 6th May

Called to report of escaped burn on Forrest St in Sawyers Valley. Crews found a 1sqm pile burning within regulation limits and left it with the owner.

Attended by: Adrian, Dave R., Dave Wh., and John R.

The Restricted Burning Period has commented on Monday the 6th of May. This entitles local residents to burn a 1 sqm pile of garden refuse between 18:00 and 00:00, on days of Moderate or Unrated Fire Danger Ratings.

No permits will be issued for larger piles or running fire until further rain has been fallen. This includes brigade run burns.

As only one nomination has been received for each position, the Chairperson of the AGM will declare the member duly elected to that position at the May AGM.

Please find attached a nomination form for this award, which closes Saturday, 25th May 2024. The process has been changed slightly, with all relevant information available on the attached form. As from this Saturday, there will be a ballot box at the Reception counter along with additional nomination forms for your convenience. The AGM as previously advised, will be held at the Station, 12 Ashstead Street on Monday, 27th May 2024 commencing at 1930 hours. Preceding the AGM will be a very brief General Meeting commencing at 1900 hours. At the conclusion of the AGM a light supper and refreshments will be available.

Nominations are now open for volunteers to attend the 2024 WAFES Conference. We’d love to hear from your BGU with a list of volunteers who would benefit from this rewarding opportunity.

The conference will be held at Crown Perth on Friday 6 September and Saturday 7 September 2024, with a host of interesting speakers, presentations, tours, and workshops lined up.

It’s simple to put forward a volunteer/s from your BGU to be considered for a place at the conference. Volunteers can also self-nominate this year. Nominations are now open via the DFES website and will close on Wednesday 5 June 2024.

Following this, your BGU will receive a list of volunteers from your team who have been nominated and be invited to provide feedback.
