1.4 Upgrades and Replacement Units

Our 1.4 will be away from the brigade receiving safety upgrades, from Thursday, for four weeks. In its place we will have two additional Light Tankers. These Light Tankers will be called Sawyers Valley Light Tanker 2 and Sawyers Valley Light Tanker 3. Our original Light Tanker will resume the name Sawyers Valley Light Tanker 1.

The replacement appliances will only be fitted with a single radio, making them ill suited for management roles such as Incident Controller, Sector Command or Ground Controller. When turning out, please consider your likelihood to be operating in any of these roles and select your appliance accordingly. Note that there is no requirement for the Light Tankers to be turned out in order.

Any questions or concerns, please speak to Adrian or John.

RUI Exercise - 21st October

The Mundaring Shire is again running a Rural Urban Interface exercise on Saturday the 21st of October. The exercise will be undertaken around Warrigal Way and Anvil Way, in Chidlow. Two crews from Sawyers will be required to participate, from 0800hrs until 1300hrs.

Crews are still required for this exercise.

This is a great training opportunity, both for new members to experience an introduction to large scale incidents, and for new Crew Leaders to get some practise leading a team in a low pressure environment. If you are interested in attending, please contact Adrian or John.

Operational Readiness Plan 2017 Draft

A draft of the Operational Readiness Plan for 2017 has been circulated to all members. Your input into this important document is greatly appreciated, and all members are encouraged to take the time to review it.

Any comments or suggestions should be direct to Adrian.
